Elfink (Fink)
Elfink, more commonly known as Fink, or 'the Fink', is something of a mad professor type. What exactly the nature of his studies are is not entirely known to anyone, but he holes himself up in his laboratory day and night, working on something, and occasionally puffs of smoke, loud ominous 'boom' sounds, and weird flashes of light can be seen or heard coming from that direction. Very few people talk directly to him, and in fact he so rarely emerges that there is little chance to talk to him anyway. If by chance one gets caught up in his conversation, it is usually rather esoterical and rambling, and although his ideas sound interesting, one is never quite sure what they are in relation to, or what the actual point is. In addition, he is quite charismatic and intense, and many can find themselves caught up in his gaze and his words even if they're not interested in anything he is trying to say. Coming away from a conversation with the Fink is liable to leave one confused and in a shaken state for hours. It is said that the Fink once had normal brown eyes, but that as the result of some experiment, his eyes turned a vivid shade of red, and he went entirely mad at the same time. No-one seems willing to confirm this rumour directly with him, however.

Ajar
Ajar is possibly the only person who is capable of holding a conversation with the Fink and not going crazy from it. Or perhaps, as rumour has it, Ajar has already been driven crazy by the Fink and therefore his conversations make perfect sense to him. It is certainly widely agreed that there is something of a manic, crazy light to Ajar's gaze, and although he is more personable, friendly, and less crazy seeming than the Fink, there are still very few who are actually comfortable talking to him. He seems to hold the position of assistant and caretaker to the Fink, and so can be seen about town more frequently, stocking up on groceries or other supplies, or running other errands. At those times, when he does occasionally chat to others, it is apparent that he believes that the Fink is in the process of working on something truly revolutionary, something that Ajar believes is certain to change the world as we know it. He will never divulge details (and in fact, is rarely asked for them anyway) but it is obvious that he has absolute unshakeable faith in the Fink's work. However he seems to spend a little too much time in the Fink's laboratory and not enough time in the real world, and most agree that this has skewed his perception.
