Arc

Arc is a descedant of a legacy family whose sworn and sacred duty is to eradicate the world of any demon that enters the human world but that does not abide by the rules laid out by humans. (Of which there are many, because what demon wants to follow a human's rules?) Arc takes this duty very seriously and has spent his life since he was young training to follow in his father's footsteps. He has little time for laughter or jokes, and any time that is not spent in active duty eradicating demons is usually spent in training or otherwise improving himself. His family has an affinity with flame, and he combines this with his preference for swords when in battle, relying on both metal and flame-based swords to defeat his enemies. Aster is his younger twin and the bane of his existence. If he had his way, he would avoid his twin completely, for he finds his twin's flippant attitude about his duty to be an affront to everything he believes in and holds dear. However, due to the twin nature of their souls, the strength of their magic power is less than half when they are not together, making them both too weak for battle, and so they have no choice but to fight as a team. Arc hates this fact with a passion, for he wants to prove his worth independantly, without relying on his brother. Arc has run into Ran's little demon hunting trio a few times while on duty, but he finds their 'dabbling' in the demon world beneath him, and he scoffs at their attempts and belittles them.

Aster

Aster is a descedant of a legacy family whose sworn and sacred duty is to eradicate the world of any demon that enters the human world but that does not abide by the rules laid out by humans. (Of which there are many, because what demon wants to follow a human's rules?) Aster largely cares very little for this 'duty' of his, and would quite frankly rather be off having fun somewhere. He has a flippant, carefree attitude to pretty much everything in his life, and can find a joke in any moment, laughter in every occurence. He was trained along with his older twin brother throughout his childhood and teenage years and shows great aptitude for both battle and magic, but he holds no interest in it. He takes part in battle only because he sees no way to escape the duty that binds him to his family. In addition, although he might never say it aloud, he feels bad about the fact that Arc's skills are useless without him there, and so he feels obliged to tag along and let his brother feel capable. However when he is not required to be on duty, he can be found off partying at nightclubs and in bars. Although he carries a sword like his brother and can wield it more than capably when required, his weapon of choice is his favourite food, fried squid. (Which can be quite deadly when wielded by Aster.) He explains (usually with a smirk and a wink) that this is so he can fulfill his never-ending appetite even in battle. Aster has met Ran's demon hunting trio a few times while in battle, and he likes to amuse himself bantering with them, but he cannot understand their desire to willingly hunt out demons in their spare time, the one thing he wishes he could do anything but.
