Iconoclast (Kon)

Iconoclast isn't really sure what his name means, but he thinks it sounds cool so he's proud of it. He tries to make people call him by his full name, but everyone else thinks it's too long, and so most people just call him 'Kon' for short. Even his best friend, Ember, will only go so far as to call him 'Icon'. Kon is a bit of a daredevil and a risk-taker; he likes to see how far he can take things, how much he can push and still come out on top. He and Ember first made friends in primary school, when they joined forces to fight back against a bully who always picked on both of them, and somehow bested him. This experience shaped Kon into what he is today -- he learnt that taking risks pays off, and he has spent the rest of his life living by this motto. He is devoted to Ember, who lay the final blow on the bully that brought them together, and his mission in life is forcing Ember to be the brave, daring person that Kon knows he is on the inside. No matter how much Ember complains about it.

Ember

Ember's mother wanted him to be a girl. So when he wasn't, she gave him a feminine name, dressed him in girly clothes, put his hair in cute little buns, and told him what a pretty girl he'd make. Ember loved his mother very much, so he let her do what she wanted, even if it meant he had no friends and got teased all the time; so long as he had her, it didn't matter. However, when he was six, his mother died in an accident, and Ember was left with only his distant father. The shock left him unable to talk for several months, and when he did finally come out of his shell it was in a rather abrupt manner -- joining with Kon to beat up a bully who had plagued him for his entire school life. And it was with Kon's help that Ember was able to learn to get past the loss of his mother. He shed his girlish clothes and started asking to simply be called Em, and he came to hate being told that he looks like a girl. (He feels only his mother is allowed to say that.) However, in memory of his beloved mother, he keeps the hairstyle that she loved best, no matter what people say. He's still very shy and withdrawn, and he second guesses himself more often than not, but he relies on Kon to challenge him to be a stronger, better person, even if he gripes about it half the time.

Interim

You could say that Interim is a tortured soul. The truth is, Interim is blessed - cursed - with the ability to see the present through his red eye, and the past through his purple eye. And often when he looks at someone, the past he sees about them is not something they want to remember. Interim grew up sheltered, unaware that his 'gift' was unusual; he thought everyone was like him. So he talked about what he saw quite freely, and one day he spoke about it to the wrong person. The resultant beating he received at the hands of a gang was so severe it was weeks before he could walk. And not only that, they almost gouged out his red eye as punishment for what he'd seen. The threat of being left with only visions of the past was even more terrifying than the beating itself, and Interim retreated inside himself. He no longer trusted anyone but himself and refused to interact with the outside world. His family had no idea what to do. They tried many things, and after years of nothing working, tried to put him in a mental home for treatment.. at which point Interim ran away. Since then, he's wandered from town to town, taking what he can and moving on. He's slowly become more able to interact with the world again, because he needs to in order to survive, but he says very little and doesn't trust anyone at all. He knows too well what people can do to him. Interim can usually be found wearing an eyepatch as seeing the world through both eyes at once can be a little disorientating.
